About Us

The Florida Linux Alliance Group (FLAG) is an independent non-profit organization whose focus is to promote and help identify Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) and Linux Operating Systems for the State of Florida business communities. In addition to promoting FOSS the FLAG works to promote education, seminars, and Florida businesses who use and sell services that support FOSS and Linux.

The Florida Linux Alliance Group is made up of a group of like minded individuals that have worked in their careers to support and promote FOSS in their work places.

Board of Directors

The Florida Linux Alliance Group will be made up of 5 Members of the Florida Linux Community.  Members are appointed once every 3 years based on recommendations of members of the FLAG and by recommendations sent to the board during the voting period (the first week May is the voting period).

The Chairman of the Board of Directors is a five year appointment. Board Members appoint the Chairman.

The first board and chairman will be appointed by the Florida Linux Show board of directors because this is the only existing board in Florida that operates as a company and an advocate specifically for the Florida FOSS and Linux communities within the state.
